What Is VenaSeal Therapy?
VenaSealâ„¢ is a form of endovenous ablation to treat varicose veins. Varicose veins are thick, twisted veins that occur as a result of weak vein walls or a leakage in the vein wall. This causes blood to pool.
Unlike other methods of endovenous ablation, VenaSeal therapy does not employ heat or energy to seal the vein and create a block. Instead, this venous treatment utilizes a medical adhesive to repair the vein.
What Could I Expect from the Treatment Process?
VenaSeal therapy treatments are performed in the comfort of our Tennessee office. During these outpatient procedures, a catheter is placed into the vein of concern with the assistance of ultrasound technology. Once the catheter is in place, a special medical adhesive is delivered to seal and close the vein. Some pressure is applied to the leg during the process.
VenaSeal treatments are relatively short, and there is no downtime associated with the process. Because of the lack of energy or heat used during treatment, there is minimal discomfort associated with the process. Some minor bruising may occur in the treatment area. You should be able to get right back to your normal daily activities!
Results achieved with VenaSeal therapy will vary for each person. While the closure is immediate, the results gradually improve over time. They are intended to be long-lasting.
Am I a Good Candidate?
VenaSeal therapy treatments may be beneficial for those who are seeking alternatives to heat or energy therapies for closing veins. Most generally healthy adults who are frustrated with the presence of varicose veins may qualify as candidates. All potential candidates should approach treatment with with realistic goals and expectations.
A consultation with our professional staff in Memphis can help determine if VenaSeal is right for you. They will review your health, evaluate the veins you are concerned about, and discuss your treatment preferences. This will all be used to develop your personalized treatment plan.
