Do you have just a little bit of unwanted fat that doesn’t seem to want to go away? Are there certain areas of your body (such as the thighs or abs) that seem especially stubborn about retaining this fat, even when you go to the gym and eat healthy foods? If you’re one of the millions of people that struggle with stubborn fat, you now have an answer: the revolutionary CoolSculpting treatment, available at Zenith Health & Aesthetics in Memphis, TN.
Will CoolSculpting Permanently Remove Fat?
One of the most amazing things about this treatment is that it gets rid of fat for good. When our trained professionals treat you in our facility, we will be starting a process that eliminates the fat cells entirely. Unlike other methods that only burn the stored fat inside the cells, this treatment actually targets the entire cell, making it much harder for fat to return.
How Does “Stubborn Fat” Become a Problem?
First of all, it’s important to note that “stubborn fat” is a popular phrase, but it isn’t a strict medical term. It is simply a way of describing a very common situation. For many people, this is a frustrating side effect of how our bodies naturally work to survive and keep us healthy.
Stubborn Fat Forms Naturally
You might notice that your body naturally stores more fat in one place than it does in others. This is often rooted in reasons beyond our control, such as our genetics. This type of fat can also seem harder to get rid of because your body burns fat in other places first. This is why people call the remaining areas “stubborn.”
Stubborn Fat Is Hard to Get Rid of
When the body needs to store fat, it creates a fat cell for this purpose. However, when the body burns this fat, the fat cell does not go away. It remains behind, only with less mass inside of it. So while diet and exercise can shrink fat cells, they typically don’t get rid of them entirely.
Stubborn Fat Comes Back Easily
If the body needs to store fat again, it often does this in an area that already has fat cells. It is much easier to do this than to create a whole new cell. This can lead to a “yo-yo” effect where the area around the thighs, abs, and sides (“love handles”) can seem like they are in a tug-of-war, but never entirely going away.
How Do We Solve This Problem?
As you may have guessed, the solution is to get rid of the fat cells altogether. When you do this, you can finally break the back-and-forth cycle because the empty cells no longer exist. You want to remove or break down the fat cells completely.
Is This the Same as Getting Liposuction?
This is different from liposuction. For a long time, liposuction has been a popular solution for anyone who wants to remove fat cells entirely. However, not everyone wants liposuction. Perhaps they don’t have time for a recovery period that is necessary after liposuction.
Perhaps they don’t like the idea of the process itself. This is why CoolSculpting is such an amazing scientific breakthrough: it allows you to eliminate the fat cells without any incisions, and without damaging your skin.
What Is CoolSculpting?
This is a revolutionary treatment that gets rid of stubborn fat without any surgery and without any recovery time. It is FDA-approved and has been subject to extensive clinical testing. This testing has shown that the fat freezing process works to get rid of fat that is resistant to other methods.
How Does It Work?
This treatment has been around for a few years, but many people are still hearing about it for the first time. The central idea of this treatment is that when we expose fat cells to colder temperatures, we can cause some of them to break down. The temperature is precisely controlled in a clinic so that it destroys the fat cells without harming skin, organs, or anything else in the target area.
The benefit is that you can permanently remove––not just shrink––your fat in a specific part of the body.
What Specific Areas Can I Get Treated?
When this treatment was first offered, it was primarily designed to work on the areas near the abdomen (or belly) and the sides. As the science and technology has improved, we have been able to expand the list of the potential treatment areas, and can now offer a number of options.
- Stomach (abs or belly fat)
- Sides (love handles)
These are the most common areas for sculpting. However, if you have stubborn fat and you’re not sure if this treatment can address your desired target area, ask us if this treatment is right for you! We can personalize our plan or suggest an alternative if there is a better approach for your specific needs.
What Happens During the Treatment Session?
A treatment session is designed for maximum effectiveness and convenience. A typical session usually lasts half an hour to one hour. The exact amount of time will depend on the number of areas being treated. When the session ends, you will be able to resume your normal day, without a recovery period or downtime.
Our Staff Works on One Area at a Time
We administer the cooling treatment to your target area using special applicators. These will create a slight amount of pressure and cold when they are first applied, but the feeling lessens as the process continues. As the technology works to freeze the fat cells, you can read, watch tv, or use your phone. Patients do not need anesthesia for this process.
The Applicator Freezes the Fat
The treatment session lasts for 30 to 60 minutes because this is the typical amount of time needed to get the target area ample cold exposure. While this happens, some of the fat cells will die. Typical results are about 20% of the fat cells in a specific area. If you wish to increase your results, you can return for another session at a later time.
Your Body Flushes the Damaged Cells Over Time
After the cooling technology destroys the fat cells, the body then begins the process of removing them from your body. It eliminates them naturally over a period of several weeks. Typically, you will notice a slimming effect three weeks after your treatment, with the ideal results being visible after 12 weeks. Although it is not an “overnight” process, it does get rid of the fat cells permanently and without surgery––that fat is gone for good!
Other CoolSculpting FAQs
This treatment is incredibly popular, and of course patients want to know as much as they can about it. In order to make things easier, we have included some of our most commonly-asked questions, to show what the treatment is capable of.
We believe every patient should make the best and most informed choice. If you want more detail about any of these topics (or want to know something that isn’t on the list) please don’t hesitate to contact our office with your questions!
What Results Should I Expect?
If it’s your first time getting this treatment, a typical session will get rid of about 20% of the fat in one area. Of course, these results are based on averages, so different patients may experience some variation (some might see a 15% decrease, others 25%) but in general, the 20% average is a good estimate of how much you can lose in one session.
Can I Get Multiple Treatments at the Same Time?
You can get more than one treatment in different areas. If you wish to treat the same target area twice, you would want to wait for a few weeks after the initial session. If you are thinking about treating different target areas, however, we will help you come up with the best personalized plan. We will do everything to help you achieve your complete vision for the body you want.
How Much Does the Treatment Cost?
Pricing depends on how many areas you will want to treat, as well as the total number of sessions needed to achieve your results. When you meet with our staff, we will work with you to come up with a personalized plan that fits your budget and your personal goals.
When Will My Results Be Complete?
The process of fat elimination occurs over several weeks. The body needs to identify that the fat cells have been damaged by the treatment, and then flush them from the system. Although this process starts soon after your session, you will probably notice the first visible differences around three weeks after your session. As the results gradually build, you will see the biggest changes around two or three months after the session.
Do I Need to Take Time Off From Work?
Many people are surprised to learn that they can actually go back to work the same day, if they want. The process is completely non-surgical, so it doesn’t require any sort of injections or anesthesia. You don’t need to spend a day in bed after you get the treatment; you can resume your daily activities right away.
Do I Need to Take Any Medicine or Supplements After a Session?
There is no need for any pills, supplements, or booster shots after your session. Once the fat removal process has been triggered, the body will take care of this on its own. We do advise patients to continue to maintain a healthy diet and exercise program, because this will enable you to see your best results possible.
Is This Process Really Safe?
CoolSculpting has been FDA-approved for a number of years now, and millions of people have gotten excellent results with the treatment. Four of five patients would “definitely recommend” it to a friend, which is a very high rate of enthusiasm for a treatment like this.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
The best candidates for CoolSculpting are typically just a little bit above their goal weight, but they are having trouble getting rid of those last five or ten pounds. Often, their extra weight is concentrated in one or two areas and is difficult for them to get rid of even if they have healthy habits.
Who ISN’T a Good Candidate?
Patients who hope to achieve more drastic weight-loss will want to consider another option first, and perhaps get CoolSculpting after they have gotten close to their goal weight. The sculpting process is not ideal for those who are looking for solutions to obesity. We also do not recommend treatment for women who are breastfeeding or pregnant, or for anyone with strong negative reactions to the sensation of cold.
